Security
Certificates are needed whenever you or your
customer will exchange information that should be protected,
such as
credit cards,
passwords or collection
of
sensitive information for
shopping carts or
other interactions with customers.
Security Certificates
are issued by authorities such as
Comodo,
Verisign, GeoTrust, SSL.com, etc. TxWorld customers can use
certificates from any of these providers to protect the
information transmitted from their website.
Still not sure?
TxWorld is happy to walk you through the process of whether
or not you need a certificate. We help our customers find
the right level of certificate to buy at the best price,
then install it for you.
Who should I buy a SSL
Certificate from?
TxWorld does not have a partnership, commission
or referral program with any specific SSL
Certificate vendor. Our only interest is helping
you, our customer, to find the appropriate and
cost effective certificate. For this reason, we
typically recommend one of the following that
provide solutions for less than $150 annually.

What is meant by a "secure
site"?
Anytime you
view a web site
information is
sent from your
computer to the
web site and
back to your
computer. The
transmission of
this information
is normally sent
in "plain text"
meaning anyone
would be able to
view the exact
contents you exchanged.
Each time you
access a web page
information is
transmitted
across many
different servers to
reach its
destination.
When a site has been secured by a Security Certificate
and is accessed via https, then information you exchange
with that site is "secured" and cannot be viewed as plain
text.
What is SSL?
Secure Sockets Layer or
SSL is a cryptographic protocol that is used to encode information transmitted on the Internet. It uses a
complex system
of key exchanges
between your
browser and the
servers you are
communicating
with in order to
encrypt the data
before transmitting it across the Internet.
